Chris Cottrill

Christopher Paul Cottrill (born 4th September 1984 in Birmingham, England) is a former English professional footballer who is currently a serving Firefighter in the West Midlands Fire Service

Birmingham City

Nicknamed "cotty" Cottrill started his footballing career at 11 years old in Birmingham City's Centre of Excellence. He then came through Birminghams Academy set up and was a regular in the clubs reserve side in the 2004-05 season.

He earned a one year professional contract in 2003-04 which was extended for a year to 2004-05 season. He was a tenatious player, an extremely good athlete (he was the "All Birmingham Cross Country Schools Champion") and was known for his practical jokes along with fellow team mates Robbie Savage and Jermaine Pennant.

Non-League Career

When his contract had finished in 2005, he joined local side Redditch United before moving onto Bromsgrove Rovers with team mate Sam Alsop. Cottrill expressed that he no longer had any interest in football and left the club in 2008 through "commitment problems"

Chris now serves as a Firefighter at Solihull Fire Station
