Chloé Burke

Chloé Burke (born 20 May 1997) is an English film maker, critic and writer. Perhaps best known by her small cult following in film-culture known as the "Burkesques" a small group of devoted fans of her unpublished 2014 script entitled The Butterfly Thief.

Life and early career

Burke was born to parents David & Tracy Burke on May 20, 1997, her father an aircraft engineer, Chloé soon learned attention to detail and methodical precision from a very early age, as well as the ability to identify aircraft on sight. During childhood, Burke was seen to develop an extraordinary aptitude for the watching and analysis of cinema from a very early age, soon realising that this was her calling, Burke moved into the creative processes involved in the production of film pieces, making several shorts (one being the unpublished underground hit Trip to Blakeny).

Feature film and current works

Burke made the decision to start work on her first full length feature film in January 2014, to be entitled The Butterfly Thief or Le Voleur de Papillon to give it is's alternate title, the piece is rumoured to still be in its script-developmental stages.

Burke commented that the film "will challenge audiences concepts of some heavy issues through the vehicle of a child protagonist". It is also believed that the mise-en-scène of the finished piece will carry Burke's signature style "Burkesque"; incorporating themes of bildungsroman and use of flat space camera moves, asymmetrically composed scenes, snap-zooms, first person perspectives, slow-motion walking shots, a heavily selective color palette and use of stills to tell sections of the story - though this is merely rumour based upon previous works.

Personal life

Burke is notoriously secretive amongst her fans and has very little contact with the internet, refusing all interviews, however it is known that she is currently in a long-term relationship with Sam Wilson (though little is known about Wilson). She is an accomplished cellist and film critic, highly regarded for her 'brutally honest' style.
