Chernoh Bah
Chernoh Alpha M. Bah is a revolutionary journalist from Sierra Leone and also an award-winning journalist imprisoned for exposing human rights violations in the treatment of Sierra Leonean refugees.
He became politicised at an early age and before he was 20 Chernoh organized the Awareness Movement of Sierra Leone, edited The Newspaper The Point, and was forced into exile in Guinea-Conakry where he became a political prisoner. At 21 Chernoh founded the Africanist Movement, which is today based in eight countries of West Africa. Chernoh Alpha M. Bah has remained one of the most outstanding socialist leaders that has emerged in West Africa in recent years and has successfully built the most remarkable mass movement of young Africa spread across West Africa. Very articulate, he speaks passionately about Africa, the ills of capitalist corporations, imperialism and the current challenges confronting the continent. His sharp criticism of the current African politicians has placed him in a conflicting Situations with governments across the region. His understanding of the history, culture and political dynamics of Africa and its suffering masses have earned him respect among many young Africans. His movement, the Africanists, has its support rooted among thousands of youths, most of whom abandoned and impoverished and see Bah's leadership as an alternative to a new Africa. The Africanist Movement recently voted to join efforts to build the African Socialist International, the worldwide movement to unify and liberate Africa.
