Chapar Higher Secondary School
Chapar Higher Secondary School is an institution for high school education located in the heart of Chapar town under Dhubri district of Assam, a northeastern state of India. The School was established in 1940. The first head master of the school was Basnata Kumar Sinha, a very renowned person of the locality.
History
On March 27, 1940 the school was started as Chapar High School by the continuous efforts of some enthusiast personality of the locality. The first managing committee was formed Dr. Jogesh Chandra Choudhury as President, Basanta Kumar Sinha as Secretary and members namely Harendra Narayan Das, Bhabendra Narayan Sarkar, Sayed Ali Joddar, Sefatul Hoque Munshi, Kajia Nama Das and Fajlul Bepari. Basanta Kumar Sinha was the first head master of the school.
Former chief minister of Assam Jananeta Sarat Chandra Sinha joined this school as the head master in 1944.
Country's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru appreciated the performance of the school and the people of the locality when he visited the school in 1946.
In the year 1963 the school upgraded to Higher Secondary level with both science and arts stream when State Award winner teacher Dalim Kumar Medhi was the head master; he was the first principal.
