Channel (band)
Channel is an alternative/progressive rock band from Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Current members are Ben Talmi on guitar and vocals, Luis Granda on Bass, and Brandon Lewis on Drums. Past members include Matt Heisler and Patrick Mack on Drums and Alex Sachetti on 2nd guitar. (Sacchetti gave the band the name "Old Channel" during his brief membership. The name was later shortened to "Channel") The band formed in 2003 at Rock on Band Camp at Berkshire Community college. The band recorded 2 albums with Talmi, Granda, and Heisler. 2004's Perpetual Motion, a mixture of pop-punk and funk, was influenced primarily by the bands Blink 182 and Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2006 Channel released the album Inch Deep Oceans, which was supported by their first tour around the Northeast United States and Canada. Part of the tour was with the Eric Eggleston Band from Ottawa. Three of the songs from Inch Deep Oceans made it onto the initial ballot in the category Best Rock Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocal for the 49th annual Grammy Awards. Channel's most notable MusicAL qualities are Talmi's often effeminate vocals and Granda's unorthodox bass parts, two qualities they are embracing on their upcoming 2007 release Androgyny is In.
