Central Dallas Ministries

Central Dallas Food Pantry is an American non-profit organization operating in Texas.

It was founded in 1988 by members of the Preston Road Church of Christ, and became a separate 501(c)(3) organization in 1990. It began doing business as Central Dallas Ministries ("CDM") in 1994. Within three years, the agency had grown to operate the largest food pantry in Dallas.

Battling hunger every day for nearly a decade, CDM’s leadership realized that hunger was a symptom of deeper issues associated with poverty. That observation prompted CDM’s leaders to think about how they could attack the problems of poverty in a more comprehensive and systemic way. Thanks to the commitment of CDM’s founders, including Dallas business leader Jim Sowell , CDM has since grown into an expansive community development organization with a network of integrated programs.

Offering a variety of programs that reach more than 50,000 people throughout the Greater Dallas area as well as San Antonio, CDM is responding to poverty’s many expressions.

The agency's chief executive is Larry Morris James.
