Central Avenue (St. Petersburg, Florida)
County Road 150 (more commonly referred to as Central Avenue) is the main throughfare of downtown St Petersburg, Florida. Consistent with its name, Central Avenue is located directly in the middle of downtown. Immediately to its north is 1st Ave N, right to its south is 1st Ave S, etc., thus creating the foundation for The Downtown grid. It is also represents the figurative center of the city. Many of the city's renowned restaurants are features on this avenue. Also most of the nightlife is on or very near Central. Some prominent examples are Bella Brava Italian restaurant, Lobby Bar, and the The Arts Center. The Downtown Looper trolley has a stop along Central, at The Arts Center.
Grand Central Region and Historic Kentwood
In recent years, this area on Central two miles west of downtown has taken off. The neighborhood called Historic Kentwood contains the newly formed entertainment district Grand Central. This locale was voted among the 10 best "cottage communities" in America by Cottage Living. As of August 2007, 39 new businesses opened in this area. At Pasadena Avenue, Central Avenue continues westward as the Treasure Island Causeway into Treasure Island.
