Centier has been owned and operated by the Schrage family continuously since 1895, with a promise to remain an independent, hometown community bank. Centier has over 40 locations in North and Northwest Indiana, including many in-store locations with seven-day-a-week banking available for optimal customer convenience.
Centier has over 600 employees located throughout the North/Northwest Indiana region, and continues to expand throughout the area.
Centier has been named among the top ten Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, as well as been recognized for the fifth year in a row as the Best Bank for Business by the readers of the Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly magazine.
Community Service
Centier is actively involved in the communities throughout the North/Northwest Indiana region, including appointing dozens of full-time Community Coordinators within each community or area to keep in touch with local activities and programs. These Community Coordinators are essentially the eyes and ears of the organization that serve to help Centier participate in the best ways possible in supporting each community.
Centier actively supports more than 300 charitable organizations throughout the Northern Indiana Region, including Adopt a Highway, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Fraternal order of Police, March of Dimes, Meals On wheels, NAACP, and The Salvation Army.
Leadership
Michael E. Schrage is the Bank's President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Schrage is the 4th generation in the Schrage Family to lead the bank.
Market Share
Despite competing in several diverse markets with numerous banks varying in size and market presence, Centier consistently enjoys one of the largest market shares in its region, with 22% market share. Centier trails only behind Chase Bank in the region, despite being a much smaller organization.
Not For Sale
As the consolidation of community banks continues throughout the country, and particularly in the Midwest region, Centier has remained committed to remaining family-owned and operated and frequently uses the slogan "Not For Sale" as part of its promotional materials and marketing campaigns. Similar community banks that have been absorbed in the recent consolidation efforts in the area are Sand Ridge Bank, Bank Calumet, NA First National Bank of Valparaiso, and Mercantile National Bank of Indiana.
