Cecil Instruments

Cecil INSTRUMENTS is a company in the UK which make several types of scientific instrument.

Cecil Instruments are leading designers and manufacturers of one of the world’s most trusted ranges of modular HPLC systems, Ion Chromatography systems and UV/Visible Spectrophotometers. They are one of the few remaining independently owned, British scientific instrument-manufacturing companies.

The company was founded in 1968 by Cecil Tarbet. The company was the first to manufacture a commercially available UV/Visible HPLC detector, with variable selection of wavelength.

The company's facilities have grown from the spare rooms of Cecil’s house to its current purpose-built site. The creation of this site enabled Trinity College, University of Cambridge, to create the development of the Cambridge Science Park.

Today Cecil Instruments is a major player in the world instrument market.
