Carolyn Ramo
Carolyn Ramo is an American arts advocate and non-profit leader, currently serving as the Executive Director of Artadia.
Early life and education
Ramo was born in Los Angeles where she attended the Harvard-Westlake School before moving to New York City in 1997 to study art history at New York University.
Career
Following her studies, Ramo worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art before becoming director of Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery. She then went on to be the production director of David Zwirner.
During the 2019-20 COVID-19 outbreak, Ramo, along with the leaders of six other organizations, helped organize the $12+ million Artist Relief emergency fund which gave unrestricted $5,000 cash grants to artists affected by the pandemic and its consequences. Speaking of philanthropic coalition building during times of crisis in a profile by the editorial platform of MCW Projects, she noted that she felt that “hen working together, we can be a stronger and bolder advocate for the support of individual artists with the funding community.”
