Carmine Avellino
CARMINE Avellino (July 15, 1944) St. James, New York is a made man in the Lucchese crime family who is heavily involved in extortion and waste management racketeering, first under Anthony Corallo and later Victor Amuso and Anthony Casso.
Biography
Carmine Avellino was born in St. James, New York to first-generation Italian-American immigrant and Salvatore Avellino Sr. Carmine stands at 5'11" and weighs 180 pounds. He is the younger brother of mobster Salvatore Avellino Jr and the uncle-in-law of mobster Michael Malena
Carmine would follow his father and brother into a life of organized crime. Carmine rose up in the ranks of the mob with Salvatore under Anthony Corallo. On August 21, 1975 Carmine was arrested for bookmaking in New York City. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to extort money from carting and construction industries, and was sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison. He was banned from New Jersey casinos on January 29, 1988 due to his gambling conviction and ties to organized crime in New York.
