Carl Shackleton
Carl Shackleton is a Grammy Award-nominated songwriter and producer. He has written and produced for hip hop, R&B, jazz and rock and roll artists and film scores.
Biography
Shackleton was raised in Atlanta and started his career in Boston, Massachusetts in the early 1990s where he produced his first project at Berklee College of Music. Shortly thereafter he got his first break as a writer and producer for House of Hits with Maurice Starr. With the experience he acquired, Shackleton started an artist development production company that helped developed the career of Arista Records recording artist Blu Cantrell.
Career
Shackleton has scored and worked as music supervisor of Damon Dash’s film Death of a Dynasty, an urban hip-hop comedy. According to producer Steven Beer, Shackleton assembled and composed the entire score within one week.
As a writer and producer, some of Shackleton's singles have debuted on Billboard's top 10 charts. As a record executive, he has worked closely with many artists, like André 3000, Debra Cox, Blu Cantrell, 112, Da Brat, Spliff Star of Busta Rhymes and Baby of Cash Money Records.
As of December 2008, Shackleton has been in the studio producing Yung Joc and “Lil’ Mama.” to be released in 2009.
