Cameron Deas
Cameron Deas is an English born folk musician. He has released a string of EPs on various independent record labels, and his first LP, titled "My Guitar is Alive and It's Singing", was released in February 2009.
Biography
Early life
Deas was born in London, and grew up in Blackheath. He moved to Amersham, Buckinghamshire, where he went to Dr Challoner's Grammar School. Deas chose to take up the guitar at this point, and formed his first band with his longterm friends Tom Kilburn and Sam Tippet. Cameron currently attends the University of Sheffield where he is studying for a BA in Music.
Family
Cameron has two older sisters named Kate and Annabel.
MusicAL career
Since the dissolution of his previous band, Deas started a solo career under the name Cam Deas. He has released various EPs under the record labels Blackest Rainbow, Dead Pilot, Dirty Demos and others.
Deas plays the guitar, and notably the 12 String Guitar. His music is a mix of acoustic and electronic sounds, which "conjures up an air of ancient smoke-wreathed ritual with ghostly moans and 12 string acoustic guitar ragas that disappear into cascades of echo, HaZe and distortion."
He is a regular performer on the Sheffield folk scene, having played at the Shakespeare (where he played with Alasdair Roberts and Jack Rose), the Fox and Duck "Cool as Folk" night, and the Red House. He has also played various venues around the country, such as the Luminaire in Kilburn with Greg Weeks. In summer 2008 he did a mini tour around Europe, which included a set on Portuguese radio, and in April 2009 he played dates in Oslo, Stuttgart and Amsterdam, when he also appeared on Dutch Radio to do a live session.
Cam Deas has a small but extremely dedicated following in Sheffield and on the internet. This is seen by the sales of his releases which invariably sell-out "super fast" according to his label's website.
Deas released his first LP, titled "This is my Guitar and It's Singing" in February 2009
