CAC PIN Reset

The Common Access Card (CAC) Personal Identification Number (PIN) Reset system or CPR is a United States Department Of Defense (DoD) supplied workstation used to reset the User's PIN on the DOD CAC without the need to travel to a DEERS/RAPIDS station. The CPR was released by the CAC Project Management Office (PMO) to provide timely PIN reset capability using Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware over a client/server network.

Implementation

The CPR Workstation requires network connectivity in order to communicate with the CPR DEERS Service (DS) using the CPR Server Services (SS) via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) version 3 with the Open Platform Card Specification (OPSPEC) protocol. The OPSPEC protocol provides a secure communications channel within SSL for connection to the user and customer's CAC. The OPSPEC protocol provides confidentiality, authentication, and integrity.

Eligibility for CPR

In order to be eligible to receive a CPR workstation, the host organization is required to designate a primary and alternate Trusted Agent Security Manager (TASM), whom will administer the workstation. The TASM registration forms must be submitted to the DMDC for approval.

A CPR Trusted Agent (CTA) must be designated by the site. This person, commonly one of the TASMs, is primarily responsible for the CPR operation and performing system updates.
