C3 CubexCursedxCurious

is a Japanese light novel series by Minase Hatzuki, with illustrations by Sasorigatame. The first novel was released on September 10 2007, and as of March 10 2009, six volumes have been published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko label.

Story

One day ordinary high school student Yachi Haruaki received a mysterious black box sent by his father from abroad. It was a "Cursed" object which could assume human form. The black box whose name was Fear came to Haruaki wanting to rid herself of the curse. Together with Haruaki and his boarder Konoha, Fear decides to do helpful things in order to neutralize the negative energy that was built within her, to be free from the curse that bound her.

Characters

The series' main protagonist. A high school student studying at Taishuu Private Academy. He has the unique ability to deflect various curses, which made him possible to help the cursed objects without being affected by their curses. He is skilled at household matters, especially at cooking. Some of his friends describe him as "withered" because of his lack of interest in youthful activities.

A personified tool. In her human form, she is little girl with silver hair. Fear loves eating rice crackers and despises arachnids. She was quite ignorant of the modern world when she first came to Haruaki's place but Haruaki and Konoha taught her the basics necessary in everyday life. Originally, She was a cubic universal torturing equipment known as the "Fear-in-Cube". Haruaki's father found her in a dungeon beneath an ancient castle. After taking her, Haruaki's father sent Fear to him via　the delivery service. In volume 2, she started to attend in Taishuu private academy together with Haruaki and Konoha. She uses the name "Fear Kubrick" in school.

Haruaki's boarder living in the outer building of Yachi family residence. Konoha also attends in Taishuu private academy, together with Haruaki. She's also a cursed object, the demon blade Muramasa. Konoha used to crave for blood but now has a strong dislike seeing bloodshed, often leading to nausea when she saw one. This was caused by the fact that Konoha was almost free from the curse that bound her. She had been in-love with Haruaki for a long time, but Haruaki does not seem to notice her feelings.

The other boarder that resides in Yachi family residence. An infant with long black hair and blank expression in her eyes. She was already mentioned in volume 1 but did not appear until volume 3. Kuroe was also a cursed object, but years of repentance neutralized her negative energy, thus freeing her from the curse that bound her. Kuroe used to be a cursed Japanese doll whom used its hair to suck the life out of its owner. She now have her own business at the town's shopping district, but is often away wandering throughout the country.

The class representative. Cool and composed, Kirika is the most sensible one among Haruaki's close friends, often acting as the break to stop Kana and Taizo's pranks. She is secretly in-love with Haruaki, but she did not want Haruaki to know.

Haruaki's classmate and a member of the baseball club. He loves to tease and play pranks, usually together with kana. Taizo likes Konoha very much.

Haruaki's classmate. She's also a member of the swimming club. Kana especially loves to tease Kirika and Fear.

Peevey Barowoi

A dress-clad woman who appeared to destroy Fear. Peevey is a knight agent sent by the Gathering of Knight's United-Front Jurisdiction. Her arms are equipped with a ridiculously huge gauntlet. his is also where her codename, the "Balancing Toy", came from. After the battle with Fear and the others, she was collected by a researcher from Yamimagari pakuaki Laboratory-Chief's Nation.

A girl who was Peevey's Auxiliary on that particular mission. She uses her warth, the Chupakabran Bandage to assist the knights. Her parents left her inside a burning house in order to receive an insurance to pay their debts. Because of this, Mummy maker was damaged with serious case of burn. Her real name was Amanda Carrot.

Haruaki's father. He's often away from the country, traveling around the world looking for cursed objects.

Warth

Universal term for the Cursed objects that cause harm to its owner.

Indulgence disk

A thin black card that is said to be able to lighten the effect of a curse.

Gathering of Knight's United-Front Jurisdiction

An order of knights sworn to destroy all the warths. They acknowledge warths as an absolute evil. Though, there are some knights who favor using warth on their mission.

Yamimagari Pakuaki Laboratory-Chief's Nation

One of the organizations that revolves around the warth. They desire every knowledge concerning warths.

Bivorio Families

One of the organizations that revolve around warths. Unlike the Knight's Jurisdiction, they affirm warth as a salvation.

Draconians

One of the organizations that revolove around warths. They think that the warths are created for men to become stronger. Every member aims to be the strongest man ever lived, giving a code to this superior being as the "Dragon". Each member has a dragon tattoo somewhere on their body.
