C3: Center for Conscious Creativity
The c3: Center for Conscious Creativity is a public benefit organization founded in October 2004 by Producer/Writer Kate McCallum and Artist/IT Tech Consultant Philip Horvath. The c3's mission is to "Create a Better Future through Arts and Media" by supporting, educating and inspiring the work of futurists, artists, scientists, technologists, scholars, creatives and entertainment professionals to create content and art that is socially beneficial and aids in addressing 15 global challenges and their solutions as set forth in The Millennium Project's STATE OF THE FUTURE annual research and report. The c3 maintains a collaborative partnership with The Millennium Project www.millennium-project.org as McCallum serves as the Chair and Creator of the Global Arts and Media Node of The Millennium Project http://www.millennium-project.org/millennium/arts-media.html. More information about the collaboration and focus of this work can be found at the c3: VisionLAB site [http://www.c3visionlab.org%20 www.c3visionlab.org].
McCallum and Horvath met at the University of Philosophical Research www.upr.org in 2004 where both were pursuing a Masters Degree. The original vision for the c3 was to create a space which resembled a multi-purpose sound stage where classes, workshops and screenings would take place and also serve as a showcase gallery for artists. All classes and presentations would be captured on video to be included in a library of available content for review. As of 2010, the c3 maintains an office on the lot of the Los Angeles Center Studios www.lacenterstudios.com and utilizes the Vortex 50 foot Dome sponsored by Vortex Immersion Media for events and R&D performances www.vorteximmersion.com.
