BUKI
BUKI (ukr. БУКІ) — an international technology company in the field of education (EdTech), operating as an online platform (marketplace) for finding and learning with private tutors.
The BUKI platform was created to help students find tutors across a wide range of academic subjects and to help tutors connect with new students. After launching in Ukraine, the company expanded to Poland and Kazakhstan in 2016, Nigeria in 2018, Spain in 2019, Mexico in 2020, the United States in 2022, and Romania and Bulgaria in 2023.
In April 2024, TIME magazine included BUKI in its global list of “World’s Top EdTech Rising Stars”.
History
The company was founded in August 2014 by Vadym Synzheretskyi, Oleksandr Yarusevych and Valentyn Bovchaliuk, students at the Faculty of Physics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The project began as an online marketplace for tutors, covering the whole of Ukraine and offering a wide range of subjects — from school subjects and languages to creative activities.
In 2015, BUKI won the national business plan competition in the ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ category.
In 2016, the company entered the markets of Poland and Kazakhstan.
In 2023, BUKI entered the Romanian and Bulgarian markets.
In 2017, co-founder Valentin Bovchalyuk left the company. Kirill Lazarev joined the team.
In 2018, BUKI entered the Nigerian market under the UpskillsTutor brand. That same year, the platform was launched in Spain under the brand name Busca Tu Profesor.
In 2020, the company launched a new product, BUKI School, a curated marketplace (online school) for one-to-one tuition with vetted tutors. As of 2026, BUKI School currently offers 10 subjects, has 70,000 pupils and has delivered 1.8 million lessons since its inception.
Also in 2020, the company launched the ‘Verified Tutor’ and ‘Secure Account’ products and began operating in the Mexican market under the Busca Tu Profesor brand.
In 2022, a version of the platform for the US was launched under the UpskillsTutor brand.
In 2023, Vadym Synzheretskyi, co-founder and CEO of BUKI, was named to the American Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list, as well as the Ukrainian Forbes 30 Under 30 list of young tech entrepreneurs.
At the same time, the company also launched the BUKI Care charity initiative, aimed at supporting children affected by the war. As part of the initiative, the company awards scholarships and has delivered over 10,000 free lessons.

- 2025: selected as one of the participants in the Stanford Ignite Ukraine programme.
- 2025: BUKI was inducted into the Wall of Fame of Ukrainian technology companies.
