Btechguru
Btechguru is an online educational portal, based in India. It is a part of Bodhbridge educational services, which is a company incubated in IIT Madras. It promotes educational resources online for engineering, soft-skills and Entrepreneurship studies to students.
Founding and incubation
The concept of the organization was the brainchild of two M.S.students at IIT Madras, Mr. Prashanth and Mr.Balaraju. The company was formally launched in early 2008 as the result of their ambitious business plan for providing educational services and counseling for engineering students across India.
In acknowledgment of their efforts, the company was incubated as Aerosol Engineering Services Private Limited, within the C-TIDES (Cell for Technology Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Support), IIT-Madras, in March, 2008. The name was subsequently changed to Bodhbridge Educational Services Private Limited, and http://www.btechguru.com/ was started as an online portal and as the e-wing of the company. Ever since, 'btechguru' has been an informal name of the company among students.
Mr. Prashanth and Mr.Balaraju won accolades at the Pan-IIT global conference, 2009, for their innovative business plan aimed at creating better engineers for the future through ACTIVE networking.
Products and Services
At present, btechguru is actively involved in offering training courses for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) and Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) aspirants. These exams are the gateways to post-graduation in any of the IITs across India and in Anna University, Chennai respectively. They also impart coaching for soft-skills and entrepreneurship development.
A unique and novel offer from btechguru is that of video lectures by eminent professors of various IITs, in the form of DVDs. These are being offered at a low price for the benefit of students. They also offer their entire database of educational videos in the form of Hard-Disk drives to various institutions for propagation through their Local area network(LAN).
Activities
According to the founders, the objective of the protal is "to create a platform where all the students from all corners of the world can network and share knowledge and get the full benefit of this cyber-centric world."
The organization frequently puts up technical workshops, which are either free of cost, or of a nominal fee. Their most recent workshops have been on VLSI design, Web security, Cyber-crime and Entrepreneurship development, and were conducted in the IIT Madras campus in June 2009.
Besides these, btechguru has already organized a number of crash-courses and workshops in the state of Andhra Pradesh. They are currently operating actively in Tamilnadu, and intend to spread these services to all states of India by 2010.
