Bronkies Crag
Situated on the banks of the Bronkhorstspruit river, just below the dam wall of the Bronkhorstspruit dam, Gauteng Province, South Africa, is a South-facing sport climbing crag affectionately known as 'Bronkies'. It makes for a pleasantly cool climbing venue during those hot summer days. Access is easy with safe parking and the walk-in is no sweat at all.

14 “quick-draws” is ideal although most routes require less. Most routes can be done on a 50m rope. Please take note of any warnings on the route guide.
Getting there
From JHB: Either take the N1 north and then the N4 east (Witbank). Turn off at the Bronkhorstspruit off ramp (R25). Turn right to go south on the R25 then left at the R42 junction to Delmas. After 3,7Km at the crest of a hill the gate to the farm will be on the right (sign for Department of water affairs and forestry). Or take the N12 east (Witbank). Turn off at the Delmas, Bronkhorstspruit off ramp (R42). Turn left and continue on for about 25Km passing the Bronkhorstspruit dam on the left. At the crest of a hill the gate to the farm will be on the left (sign for Department of water affairs and forestry).
Access
Permission to climb here has been granted to the Mountain Club of South Africa and their affiliate members only. The rule of one member, one guest will apply. Numbers are not really restricted but large groups are discouraged. • Climbers are requested to only visit the area on weekends and public holidays otherwise access during the week must be arranged directly with the owners. • Please remember to pay the parking levy of R25 / vehicle and sign the visitors book upon entrance. The book can be found at the main house. Stop here and someone will come out with the visitors book.
