Brijwood

Brijwood refers to the film industry of Brij (a Western Uttar Pradesh), India or the cinema of the Brij region. Brajbhasi language films presents the culture of Brij (a land of Lord Krishna).

History

Brijbhasha's first feature film Brij Bhoomi (1982) was a success throughout the country made by actor,producer & director Shiv Kumar of Aligarh under the banner of "Ocaon Movies", He also made a Hindi film Krishna Tere Desh Main which based on Brij Culture. After-that in 1983 Dr. Laxminarayan Garg (son of famous Hindi humorous poet Kaka Hathrasi) of Hathras has produced, directed and composed the music of a another Brajbhasha language feature film "Jamuna Kinare"

There are some little films made in Braj Bhasha language and Brajbhasha film industry was unnamed.

In year 2011 a Aligarh resident famous anchor,actor & short film maker Jais Chauhan has came a thought his mind to read a news AbOUT Brijwood in newspapers atlast he decided for re-birth and uplifting the Braj-Bhasha film industry and he has given name this film industy to Brijwood (like as Bhaujiwood (Cinema of Bhojpuri language).Mr. Sanjeet Singh owner of TST Entertainment (a film & tv production house at Mathura)had also named BRIJWOOD for developing of Brajbhasha Cinema.

Area of Braj Bhasha language

‘Brij Bhasha’ culture (The area in and around Mathura, Agra, Aligarh & Hathras districts in Western Uttar Pradesh and Bharatpur & Dholpur districts in Rajasthan). It is the predominant language in the central stretch of the Ganges-Yamuna Doab in Uttar Pradesh.
