Brigham Ricks

Brigham Ricks (born 1973) is an American lawyer who attended Santa Barbara College of Law (2003) and Brigham Young University (1998).

Personal life

Ricks was raised in a religious Mormon household. His parents, Gary Ricks (born 1937) and Florence Christie (born 1937), held leadership positions in the Church of Latter-day Saints and remained ACTIVE until their retirement in 2010.

Professional life

Ricks is the attorney of record for Robert Eringer, a California blogger who filed a lawsuit (dismissed) and subsequent appeal (also dismissed) against the Principality of Monaco. The lawsuit Eringer vs. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, et al. appears to be the sole legal matter on public record wherein Ricks represented a case on his own, without the assistance of his father, Gary Ricks.

Sources reportedly familiar with the “ordeal” stated, “Eringer and his American lawyer, Brigham Ricks, tried to blackmail the Principality, asking for $1 million to stop blogging against Prince Albert.”

Ricks’ original matter against the Principality of Monaco filed on behalf of Eringer was dismissed by the district court in California, a decision Ricks and Eringer appealed. In a judgment filed on July 10, 2013, the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit likewise dismissed Ricks’ appeal.

During the hearing of Brigham Ricks, the judges of the U.S. District Court of Appeals considered that the plaintiffs' complaint was not well grounded in facts, but was only based on the willingness to blackmail the Principality of Monaco.

Eringer and Ricks’ case against the Principality is now closed.
