Brandon Thirlby
Brandon Thirlby is a professional boat and car racer from Traverse City, Michigan. Born June 1, 1987.
Boat Racing
Brandon started racing boats when he was 11 years old in the J-Pro class (now k-Pro) in the Professional Racing Outboard category of the APBA. He is a 3rd generation racer that started with his Grandfater Ed Thirlby Sr. His father Ed Jr. also was an outstanding racer (now retired) passed all of his knowledge down to his son. Brandon's Uncle Mike curently races in the 350 and 500cc Ruanabout class. He currently races in the 250cc Runabout and Hydro classes as well as the 500, 700 and 1100cc Hydroplane classes. At the age of 18 he won 4 national championships in one year becoming the youngest boat racer to ever accomplish such a feat. He has won over 10 national championships and over 15 APBA high points championships. In 2008 he won a World Championship in the 1100cc hydroplane class. By the age of 22 he has been inducted in the APBA Hall of Championships two times. Brandon and his uncle follow the USTS (United States Title Series) circuit. Traveling all over the eastern side of the country. Races include Depue Illinois, Constantine Michigan, Winona Minnesota, Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin, as well as Raleigh North Carolina. There are 8 US Title Series events in 2010, including the World Championships in Lake Alfred Florida at the end of October.
Car Racing
Brandon started racing Dirt Late Models in the summer of 2007. He races all over the midwest from mid March through mid October. Brandon has won three Feature events. In the months of June and July he follows the UMP Summer Nationals tour that includes 27 races in 30 nights in many different states including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennesee, kentucky, Wisconsin, and Missouri. Brandon's most recent accomplishment was making 2 Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model touring events in a row racing against the best racers across the country down at the East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton Florida. Brandon will race over 60 car races all over the midwest.
