Bol Aweng

Born in 1987. A young South Sudanese artists of canvas and rock paintings. Most of his stories reflects the story of the Lost Boys of Sudan which he call "The Journey of Hope". Each piece tells a story of his life is his original work are available online.

Early life and education

Bol Aweng, who was born in Piol village in Jonglei State on 1987 in the Southern Sudan. At the age of six, he was forced to flee his homeland without his parents. in 2001 he took refuge in Ethiopia and Kenya before becoming a U.S citizen. He started schooling when he was in the refugees camp to learn English, Kiswahili, Arithmetic and Science under the tree. He became a refugee when he decided to leave his country (South Sudan) in 1987 along with other 35,000 Sudan Lost Boys who also fled from Sudan in the same year. While staying in the refugee camp, he started to use his memory and imagination to create paintings with the materials that that he gets from the camp. For his painting surfaces, he uses dirt, walls and cardboard. Aweng obtained an associate degree in Information Technology from a local junior college in Nashville. He studies International Studies at the Ohio State University as a transferred student in 2006 and later he obtained a B.A degree in Digital art. Bol returned to his home in South Sudan in 2007 after twenty years where he became compassionate AbOUT health care due to lack of good health facilities and medicines in his village. He is currently raising funds to build a health clinic in the village of Piol in Jonglei State.
