Bob Lindenmayer
Bob Lindenmayer is an American filmmaker, graphic designer and film memorabilia collector. He is best known as the director, writer and producer of the 2025 documentary film Making Megaforce, which explores the production and legacy of the 1982 action film Megaforce and Lindenmayer's long-standing interest in the film.
Career
Lindenmayer worked as a graphic designer before directing his first feature-length documentary. His professional work has included graphic design, film graphics, visual effects and prop-related work.
He contributed poster design and title-sequence work to the documentary Life After the Navigator, AbOUT the 1986 science-fiction film Flight of the Navigator.
Lindenmayer has also worked on independent film projects including Prospect.
Making Megaforce
Lindenmayer made his feature directorial debut with the documentary Making Megaforce. The film concerns the making and subsequent cult following of director Hal Needham's 1982 action film Megaforce, starring Barry Bostwick.
Lindenmayer first saw Megaforce as a child and subsequently became a collector of memorabilia and vehicles associated with the film. The documentary follows his attempts to locate people and objects connected with the original production and includes InterViews with members of its cast and crew.
Barry Bostwick, who portrayed Ace Hunter in the original Megaforce, appears prominently in the documentary. The film also examines the friendship that developed between Bostwick and Lindenmayer during the project.
Lindenmayer served as director, screenwriter and one of the producers of the film.
Reception
Making Megaforce received coverage from film critics and genre-film publications. Writing for Film Threat, Kent Hill discussed the film as both an examination of Megaforce and a story about Lindenmayer's relationship with the film and its participants.
Bryan Staebell of Scare Value described the documentary as a personal exploration of fandom, noting Lindenmayer's efforts to locate surviving vehicles and people involved with the original production.
The film had its world premiere at the LA Film Invasion festival in June 2025, where it received festival awards including Best Film.
