Bo Bo Thant Zin
Bo Bo Thant Zin (,born 11 May 1986) is a Burmese contemporary writer focusing on short stories and novels.
He currently serves as the spokesperson and Information Officer for the Anyar Myay Coalition Force.
Literary Career
Bo Bo Thant Zin entered the literary scene in 2017 through the "Shwe Athit" section of Shwe Amyutay Magazine, a well-known literary periodical in Myanmar. Since then, he has been a regular contributor to magazines such as Khanyut, Ngwe Taryi, Mahethi, Color Rainbow, and Kyay Shwe Tama, writing various short stories, articles, and essays.
In June 2021, he published his novel Stars Not Free from Darkness (အမှောင်နဲ့ မလွတ်တဲ့ ကြယ်တွေ), which focused on forced labor on the Pakokku-Kalay railway line.
In March 2022, he released Little Umbrellas in the Rain (မိုးမိနေတဲ့ ထီးကလေးတွေ), centered on the lives of migrant workers in Thailand and Malaysia. During the same year, he published a collection of magazine short stories titled Gradually Fading (တဖြည်းဖြည်းနှင့် ကြွေ).
In 2025, Bo Bo Thant Zin won first prize in a literary competition organized by the CRPH for the 80th birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi with his work Nya Shwe Ta Khet Kyway Yet Saw.
Revolutionary Activities
Following the 2021 military coup, Bo Bo Thant Zin led the local "Zamani Guerrilla Force" in the resistance against the military dictatorship. On July 12, 2024, it was announced that the Zamani Guerrilla Force and three other local defense units merged to form the "Anyar Myay Coalition Force."
In an exclusive interview with CJ Platform, he stated that while the coalition was officially announced in July 2024, the groups had been collaborating as allies for two months prior, completing approximately six military missions.
He currently serves as the Information Officer and spokesperson for the coalition.
