Blu-sky mine productions

Blu-Sky Mine Productions (BSMP) Is a New Zealand locally based add-on developing group for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

History

Blu-Sky Mine productions was formed in late 2004 by Dan Mitchell. The group's website and forum was hosted by a community called Screenshot World. Previews of Dan Mitchell's first Flight Simulator model, a Saab 2000 were previewed on Screenshot World and on various other Flight Simulator forum communities around the internet.

Soon after these previews, BSMP and Screenshot World parted company, and BSMP hosted its own forum and website, now located at http://www.bsmp.co.nz. BSMP's design philosophy is deliberately very open, displaying previews of aircraft at all stages of model production; this is the legacy of the production of the Saab 2000 model, which started off as an experiment in gMax. This strategy has its strengths and weaknesses; although it means that it makes the modelling process as interactive as possible, with forum members' suggestions being taken seriously, it also opens models up in the early stages of development to non-constructive criticism.

BSMP attracted a number of staff to aid in the production of many freeware aircraft. New previews of the Saab were released, now featuring a lot of Eye-Candy. Features included a Pushback Tug and Window Shades on the external model.

On the 24th of December, 2005 BSMP released their first model, the widely-anticipated Saab 2000. The current release is version 1.1, which has so far enjoyed considerable success, with over 40,000 downloads.
