Bishop Julius Hall
Bishop Julius Hall is an independent hall of residence associated with the University of Canterbury, and located in Ilam, Christchurch, New Zealand. It is one of the three independent halls of residence at the University of Canterbury, and one of nine in New Zealand.
History
The hall was established by Bishop Churchill Julius, the second Anglican bishop of Christchurch. He envisioned a church teaching order, and while this did not come to pass, in 1917 Bishop Julius Hall was founded as a women-only hall for students of the university.
The hall was opened to male students in 1993.
