BiSCA
BiSCA is an Urban Public Transportation Information System we developed for the Jordanian capital, Amman. Standing for “Bus Information, Scheduling and Control for Amman”, BiSCA was initialized to take a role in finding a good solution that might affect the massive traffic problems in the Jordanian capital Amman positively. By making the urban public transportation sector in Amman more organized, better managed, and more attractive for the public to use.
BiSCA started as a BS degree graduation project for 3 Information Technology students, after which it was transformed into a pilot project with a complete vision of implementation. The Idea of BiSCA started ever since Late 2005, and the very first working version of the system was ran in May 2006 and presented as our graduation project. Now, BiSCA is still evolving, and we are “fighting” to have it implemented on the ground.
BiSCA is not, yet, implemented in Amman. But, a complete vision of implementing it is available, and we are still trying our best to have the system implemented in Amman.
BiSCA is mainly a distributed system, that would collect data from the field, process those data according to logical and computational operations, and deliver the resulting information to whom it may concern. In addition to rapid solution-based control for problems that might occur for buses during their movement.
