Bella McFarland

Bella McFarland(born October 18, 1965) is an African novelist, who writes African and African American romance.
Biography
Bella McFarland was born Isabel Adhiambo Odongo in Nairobi, Kenya on October 18, 1965. She grew up in Ng'iya, a small township in Nyanza Province. She went to Ng'iya Mixed Primary School, Nyamira and Nyakach Secondary School and did her high school at Ngandu Girls High School, now Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School. After graduating high school, she went to college at University of Nairobi, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. In 1991, she moved to America to pursue a doctorate degree in chemistry at Utah State University., where she met her husband.
Bella developed interest in writing fiction after finishing her PhD and having her third child in 1998. She started with children's books, which she submitted to editors and were rejected. She then moved to something she loves, ancient Egypt. Her ancient Egyptian. historical romance never left her hard drive, though it was completed. Finally, she joined Romance Writers of America and focused on writing contemporary romance and romantic suspense featuring African American heroes and heroines. In 2002, she sold her first full length romance to Genesis-Press, a family owned publisher in Columbus, Mississippi. The book, One Day at a Time, was published in 2003. She got another contract from Genesis Press to write two more books. Vows of Passion and Timeless Devotion were released in the next two years.
