Bela Kiss (band)
Bela Kiss is an American post-hardcore band formed in 2004 By Nick Prainito, in Long Island, New York. Named after the Hungarian serial killer Béla Kiss, the band quickly gained popularity and a reputation for an intense live show. Bela Kiss' reputation for an intense live show came to a head on October 22nd 2004. Where a sold out Bela Kiss show was shut down after one song, but Bela Kiss continued to play until the venue shut off all power to the stage. Resulting in a small Riot and forcing the venue then named 'Sports Plus' to no longer do "Hardcore Shows". In late 2004 they were signed by Mass. based label Audio Deprived Records where they released their first album released in stores called For Those Who Don't Believe on October 4th 2005. Before the album was recorded. Drummer Ross Monroe left the band due to personal reasons. he was replaced on drums by Alex Lehneis
The album was well received by the hardcore community behind the popularity of the song "T-1000". Shortly after the album released in stores bassist James Morgan left to help start the band DIVIDER. He was replaced for a few months by Scott of the California based band Broken Front. Shortly after Alex Lehneis then left the band due to personal issues, and Mike Furey began to play drums. Things continues to unravel when new bass player Scott unexpectidly left the band. So in December 2005 Original bassist James Morgan was asked to return to the band to fill in until a permanent bassist was found. He returned and after a few small tours, James left the band for the final time in April 2006 due to touring conflicts with his other band. Bela found their way back to the studio to record a 3 song EP that didn't get heard much, but heard enough. Bela toured off that EP for a few months, then Furey and Kyle left the band.
They then underwent many lineup changes, including Constantine(Dean) leaving the band after being their guitar player, then returning for a short while to fill in on bass. Daniel Salvaggio took the reigns as lead guitar player and along with Nick, are the only members remaining from this time. Later on, Robert Corsetti hopped on drums and the band regained new focus and is now tighter than ever. now currently signed to Hotfoot Records they released their second album to hit stores called The Horde on June 12 2007. It was announced in August that guitarist, Tim Arnold, would be leave the band. Constantine later parted ways with the band, as Matt McNally (formerly of DIVIDER) takes over on bass.
In December 2007 it was announced that singer Nick Pranito was diagnosis with Sinusitis which forced the band to cancel all upcoming shows incuding thier winter 2008 tour. Bela Kiss is currently writing for a upcoming album. No information of where or when it will be recorded, or what label it will be released by have been announced.
Bela Kiss recently toured the United States with The Banner, Across Five Aprils, Grace Gale, Endwell, Glory of This, Recon, Palehorse, Phantom Communique and more. They also performed at the Saints and Sinners Festival in New Jersey on November 3rd. Over the years Bela Kiss has shared the stage and have done small tour runs with well known acts such as The Red Chord, From a Second Story Window, Glassjaw, Remembering Never, The Sleeping, The #12 Looks Like You, The Bled, Roses are Red, Anterrabae, 100 Demons, If Hope Dies, Protest The Hero, The Fall Of Troy, From First To Last, and many many more......
