Beatnix Labs Recordings

Beatnix Labs Recordings® was founded in Santa Barbara, California, USA, 1998 by J. C. Hay (Bassplugger), Alex C.(Bassplugger), and Vince Tarango (Mad Huban). The label was created as a vehicle to promote their branded off-shoot of the popular uk style breaks (nuskool) which they dubbed "Slipstream Music."

A small, artist run label, Beatnix Labs Recordings® was able to capture the attention of many of the established US and UK breaks producers. In 2000, the label was tauted as one of the original purveyors of the nuskool sound to the USA, along with other labels such as Simply Jeff's Phonomental Music.

The label was hip to the early adoption of mp3 distribution as well, securing deals with emusic.com and submitting free songs to users who came to the label's website.

In 2004, the label was dismantled after one of their largest distributor's filed for chapter 11, destroying the label financially. Though short lived, the Beatnix Labs Recordings® was able to launch the careers of Bassplugger and Mad Huban into the worldwide breaks scene.

The following is a discography for the label: 1
