Inspiration

The story is taken from Martha Hamlett's own childhood experience at her grandmother’s house. She had a sleepover with her cousins at her grandmother's house and in the middle of the night there was a noise. They turned the lights on and there was a bat tangled in her cousin's hair and another on the floor.

She was also inspired by rhymes from classic stories like Dr. Seuss. Hamlett also enjoys poems by Emily Dickinson and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
