BartVPN

BartVPN is a VPN client developed and published by Red Sky, Poland. The software implements virtual private Network Technology to create secure point-to-point or site-to-site connections with encrypted Internet traffic, using the OpenVPN open source software application. Secure connections can run either over the User Datagram Protocol or the Transmission Control Protocol.

Installation

The client is normally distributed with an executable installer and product’s website contains all the necessary information to go through the installation process and establish a VPN connection.

Availability

The software is not free, although a limited, off-charge trial version is available for download from the producer’s website.

Platforms

The application is available for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Windows 8 as well as on MacOS 10.6, 10.7, 10.8.

Features

BartVPN protects online privacy of its users by tunnelling Internet connections through a number of servers located in eight countries, using 128-bit encryption on all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic, and through timed and automatic IP changes. Another feature of the software is Bart Bind, which forces the applications selected by user to work only when connected to a secure connection provided by BartVPN. It offers unlimited data transfer and several servers marked as P2P friendly.

BartVPN can be used for

  • avoiding geographical restrictions when connecting to the Internet,
  • establishing a secure connection on unsecured and public WiFi networks,
  • streaming videos and watching IPTV,
  • getting cheaper calling rates for calls on pay-as-you-go VoIP solutions.
