Barnraisers

The Barnraisers are a Bluegrass band from Wilmington, North Carolina. Formed in 2005 by Tiff Reece and Adam Forsythe, the band played at local venues and events gaining a reputation that allowed them to be featured in regional bluegrass and folk music festivals.

The band has listed as influences Bluegrass legends Ralph Stanley and Bill Monroe as well as contemporary artists such as The Hackensaw Boys and The Meat Purveyors. . The Barnraisers can be considered as part of a growing number of artists referred to as Fourth Generation Bluegrass, a new wave of the genre characterized by technical mastery of traditional instrumentation with a broader influence upon content and sensibilities.

In addition to traditional Bluegrass songs, The Barnraisers have performed non-traditional covers including Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' as well as 'Skulls' by The Misfits.

In September 2006, they performed along with the Avett brothers at the 1st Annual Brewgrass Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina and in May 2007, they appeared at the WE Fest XI in Wilmington, North Carolina. In June 2007, they performed at the Ocrafolk Music Festival on Ocracoke Island.

When the Barnraisers formed Tiff Reece had never played banjo.

On September 16th, 2006 the Barnraisers gave a live interviewwith North Carolina's WUIN 106.7 The Penguin FM and in October 2006, the Barnraisers were the profile of an article in Encore Magazine titled, 'As Good as Boiled Peanuts: Barnraisers have bluegrass in the bag'

In June 2007, the Barnraisers were featured on the cover of 'The Beat', Music Magazine of Coastal Carolina since 1991.
