Bamanian
Bamanian is a common Armenian surname. However, unlike most other armenian surnames Bamanian is an Armenian surname that is believed to have been intermarried with persian roots. Hence, many persian's have this last name.
Persian History
It is believed that around 2000 years ago a prince by the surname of Bamanian in the Armenian nobility intermarried an Iranian princess also of high nobility. This was not accepted publicily for many years since intermarriage was so rare.
Interestingly, it was confirmed in 2002 by a famous Armenian anthropologist, Dr. Yeznik Zadian, in Detriot that these connections did in fact exist. Dr. Zadian believes that this makes the one Bamanian family of Iran; of which many ancestors exist around the globe, Armenian as well as Persian. Fascinated by his discovery, he decided to devote much of his time to the Bamanian family's roots.
Dr. Zadian's Findings
The Bamanian family was in exile in Moscow to plot their revenge upon their bitter enemy the Qajar dynasty. In Russia, they were famous for breeding the fastest racing horses, today remembered as the Bamanianov horses. They later moved back to Isfahan to over throw the Qajar dynasty, but were too late and hid among other Persian-Armenians and named their young with persian names to hide their roots from their enemies. Today their descendants are found all around the world. Several Bamanian descendants are Armenian nationalists and have initiated a widespread effort coming out of Yerevan to let all the Iranians' with the last name Bamanian know AbOUT their actual roots.
