Baller Blockin
Baller Blockin is a 2000 crime/action genre film. The movie is set in New Orleans 3rd ward, specifically in and around the Magnolia Projects.
The plot
Tanuk (Juvenile) is from the Magnolia Projects. In the beginning of the movie, Tanuk is young. He tells his father that his mom wants him home. His father tells him that he is going to come home with plenty of money. He gives Tanuk 20 dollars to get some ice cream. As Tanuk walks away, a car approaches. A guy named Garr (Mykel Shannon Jenkins) comes out of the car and walks up to Tanuk's father. He pushes Big Slugger against the wall and asks where his money is at. Big Slugger tells him that he doesn't have it and he needs more time. Angry that he doesn't have the money, Gar shoots Big slugger in the head right in front of Tanuk. Garr walks away and Tanuk just looks at his father fall to the ground. This ends up leaving Tanuk cold and heartless to this day.
Tanuk
Tanuk is cold and heartless because of witnessing his father's death at a young age. He has a girlfriend named Nettie who stays by his side. She trys to get him to quit the game but he says no because he is a soulja but he understands why nettie is worried AbOUT him, because he is in a cold war and there is nothing nice in the Magnolia Projects. He never trusts the law and he doesn't care what they say or try to be. He wants to do right in life but is often forced to choose to ride or quit the game. His girl Nettie, is later kidnapped by a crooked cop named Curlyhead and threatens to kill her if the Cash Money Millionaires dont give him the dope.
Beatrice
Beatrice is the leader of the Cash Money Millionaires and basically runs the Magnolia Projects. He makes sure that all his people are straight and all the weight is supplied. His girl is never seen in the movie but his mentioned. He tells his boys that is girl is saying that he is hustling too hard but he doesnt care because he is hustling to get rich. He has feud with Curlyhead who trys to take over the Magnolia because he is greedy (The Cash Money Millionaires used to supply him with weight but he wanted everything).
Iceberg Shorty
Iceberg Shorty is a Cash Money Millionaire. He is often seen with Beatrice in the Magnolia projects. Early in the movie, he and his boys beat up somebody who worked for Curlyhead which resulted of the cops to come. Iceberg runs away and into a store and is forced to hide inside a freezer. Because of the G Code the person who owned the store didn't tell the cop where Iceberg Shorty was hiding.
Chopper
Chopper is another Cash Money Millionaire. He was involved in the jumping of one of Curleyhead's workers and was about to kill him but the cops came. Instead of running with Iceberg Shorty or Tanuk, He ran with Teke and ended jumping in the back of a Mustang that three women were in. Later in the movie, he is informed by one of his friends that Curlyhead was trying to shut down their operation. Later in the movie, Chopper finishes Garr off by shooting him in the head (after the cash money millionaires shoot at him).
Tekie
Tekie is another Cash Money Millionaire. While him and Chopper in the Magnolia Projects, the cops come to ask them questions about where Beatrice is and where the dope is coming in. Tekie tells the cop that he is not a snitch and he can arrest him if he wants to. In the movie, Tekie and Beatrice confront the man who passes out the checks in the Magnolia Project. Beatrice tells the man that the block is hot and he wanted to know if he seen the cops around. He then tells the man to pass the checks out on time and the man gets smart, which results of Tekie [...] im and giving a little boy the bag of checks to pass out. Later on in the movie Tekie and Iceberg shorty rob a jewelry store because they wanted all the "Bling Bling".
The G Code
The game is cold, but it's fair. This is the mantra by which Tanuk (and all of the Cash Money Millionaires) live their lives. The way The Game functions is governed by tha G code. Tha G code is the code of the streets - you live by it, and you die by it. The essence of The Game is that you control as much of the projects as you can and deal drugs to its inhabitants. This Means You've "got that work". Business typically picks up when the checks are passed out. It's important to never "catch a drought" by letting your [...] supplies dwindle, hence they re-up at least once a month.
Supplying
The Cash Money Millionaires need to supply regularly to avoid a drought, so they periodically take their SUVs on dubs to a nearby airplane hangar and meet some Latino gentlemen to re-up. After testing a sample to make sure it's "straight", they return to their people to supply and ride.
Dealing
Unfortunately, not all inhabitants of the Magnolia projects can afford the drugs they desire. So they might "come at you with that left hand [...]", AKA trying to shortchange you during a [...] deal. If they have a good rapport with you, or you are a kindhearted dealer like Iceberg Shorty, you might decide to sell to them anyway. However, Tanuk doesn't play that and is quick to bus' yo' head should you attempt this.
Ending
The movie ends with them running down the street holding their pants up.
