Baharlu dynasty

Baharlu dynasty - Turcoman dynasty which ruled as heads of Kara Koyunlu, Sultanate of Golconda and Oudh State.

Origin

According to various sources the dynasty was descended from Tura beg who escaped from Genghis khan's invasion of Transoxiana who was in turn descended from mythical Turkic king - Oghuz Khan. However first notable member of dynasty was Bairam Khwaja - ruling beg of Erciş as a vassal of Jalayirid sultans. His brother Qara Dursun was the paternal grandfather of Qara Yusuf. Last Qara Qoyunlu sultan was Yusif b. Jahanshah (1468-1469) who was proclaimed Pirali bek Baharlu.

Qutbshahis

While the main line was deposed in 1469, fleeing Sultanquli Qutbshah was able to set up his own government in Golconda. He was descended from Qara Iskander, a son of Qara Yusuf.

Nawabs of Awadh

Another branch of dynasty came to rule State of Oudh in 1739 in person of Safdar Jung who was descended from Jahan Shah. He was Qutbshah's 4th cousin 2 times removed. In fact Safdar Jung's father Jafar Beg was described as a cousin-german to Sultanquli.
