History

Founded in 2011 by Nico Güttler, Dominic Jansen and Raphael Bauer, BackupGoo initially provided backup solutions for single Google accounts. The services at first only covered Gmail but were then subsequently extended to Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Calendar and Google Contacts. BackupGoo came into being because the founders wanted to have a local copy of their Google data and no suitable application existed at that time (Eating your own dog food). BackupGoo was extended early 2012 to provide a reliable backup solution not only for personal accounts, but large enterprise customers running Google Apps. Version 5 of BackupGoo, released April 2013, features support for OAuth 2.0 authentication and much improved and faster backups. In June 2013 BackupGoo announced support for Salesforce as closed beta.
