History
AvaTrade was founded under the name Ava FX in 2006 by a team of experienced e-commerce, finance and online security experts. In 2013 Ava FX was rebranded as AvaTrade. This reflected an expansion of the company’s product offering to a much wider range of financial instruments, including stocks, Indices, commodities and bonds.

The broker also offers its services in Japan, where it is regulated by the Financial Services Agency, the Financial Futures Association of Japan and the Commodities Futures Association of Japan.

Products & platforms
AvaTrade offers spot trading on approximately 200 different Forex and CFD instruments, primarily through the MetaTrader 4, AvaTrader (ACT), MarketsPulse platforms. Both trading platforms are offered as desktop, browser-based and mobile applications. The company also offers automated trading platforms through partnerships with MirrorTrader and ZuluTrade.
Forex Options
In 2013 AvaTrade launched the AvaOptions platform, allowing clients to trade OTC vanilla call and put options on more than 30 Forex pairs.
Binary Options
Ava Group launched its binary options site, PowerOption, in 2013. It offers a range of binary options trades on Forex, Commodities, Stock Indices and Individual Equities. Ava Group also owns the financial markets site FX Insight, which offers daily updated news and analysis as well as charts and prices for a variety of financial markets.
