AuScope
AbOUT
AuScope Limited is a non-profit company formed to facilitate the implementation of a world-class infrastructure system for Australian earth and geospatial science capability.
AuScope is funded under the Australian Government National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, which brings together Australian research, university, state and federal agencies, to develop a seamless, broadly accessible, fully integrated BLEND of technology, data and knowledge infrastructure. AuScope ultimately aims to enable the construction, refinement and ongoing enrichment of an online, live, four-dimensional Earth Model for the Australian Continent and its immediate environs.
Aims
AuScope's mission is to develop an Australian Earth Model to transform the earth science research landscape.
Specifically AuScope aims to:
- Discovery Portal - Build an e_Research Infrastructure to federate nationally distributed datasets, to develop tools to manipulate large data volumes and to establish open access through the Discovery Portal
- Earth Composition and Evolution - Provide new geochemical instrumentation and improved access to existing quality geochemical infrastructure
- Earth Imaging and Structure - Use a pool of state-of-the-art seismic and magnetotelluric equipment to build a clear picture of the subsurface
- Earth Simulation, Analysis, Modeling - Build a software toolkit for simulation, modeling, inversion, analysis and data mining
- Geospatial Framework & Earth Dynamics - Establish and operate a comprehensive national geodetic infrastructure at increased levels of accuracy and time resolution.
