AuroraUX

AuroraUX is an operating system distribution based on the OpenSolaris source base. The goal of the AuroraUX project is to create a high reliability core operating system using the US Department Of Defense-developed Ada programming language. While it is meant to be minimalistic and used as a base for other distributions, it will also be functional as an operating system in itself.

As well as using the Ada programming language AuroraUX supports Cyclone, C and C++. Cyclone has been developed to avoid buffer overflows and other vulnerabilities of C. The AuroraUX team has chosen Falcon for a scripting language. Fortran is also supported because of its numeric and scientific background, one of the core areas the system is being developed for.

AuroraUX supports x86, x86-64, SPARC and PowerPC with the extended architecture support project underway
