Aurora Special Economic Zone

Aurora Special Economic Zone is an economic zone located in the coastal town of Casiguran in the province of Aurora, Philippines. It has land area of AbOUT 500 hectares expandable to 1,000 hectares facing Pacific Ocean. It is one of the four special economic zones in Central Luzon Region, the other being Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Clark Freeport Zone and Bataan Export Processing Zone. The zone will serve as vehicle to develop the province' agricultural prowess and eco-tourism potential.

History

Republic Act No. 9490 authored by Senator Eduardo J. Angrara of the Philippine Senate created Aurora Special Economic Zone Authority, the body task to administer the economic zone.

Initially, five companies signified intention to start operations in the said zone.

Key Features and Facilities

Aside from energy as its future development strategy, the zone envisions to become a model agro-marine center with a fish port, processing and canning plants. Reefer facilities will be built to accommodate marine harvest from the vast Pacific Ocean and mariculture farms will put up to cultivate high value marine products for export.

An international airport is expected to rise in the future.
