History and background
On August 14, 2024, Grok received image generation capability using Flux by Black Forest Labs. Elon Musk said that the use of Flux was temporary, as xAI was developing its own image generation system, but that it was still a few months away.
On December 7, 2024, Aurora was enabled on Grok. It was subsequently disabled a few hours later.
On December 9, 2024 Aurora was officially announced and released.
