Auralis
Auralis is a keyboard/guitar/electronica based band with drums. Auralis consists of: Jonathan Cernan, a.k.a. “JC” (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chetan Tierra (keyboards, synthesizers, electronic bass) and Nathan "Buzz" Johnson on drums. JC and Chetan are both classically trained pianists from the Cleveland Institute of Music (C. I. M.). "Buzz" was added as a permanent member in July, 2009. Chetan Tierra was invited in 2009 to compete in the prestigious Van Cliburn classical piano competition. He was one of only four (4) United States citizens to be invited.
Auralis’ musical stylings are unique; however they are influenced by artists such as: Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Keane, TOOL, Shinedown, and Staind. Auralis’ classical training is evident while hearing their original rock, popular and emotronic compositions. Songs like the fan favorite "Heaven's Gates" as well as “Send A Picture”, "Come Away" and “You By My Side” show their nuanced vocal layering and harmonizing, as well as lyrical sensitivity. Other compositions, such as “Control Freak” and "I'm Alone" show their intellectual lyrical disdain for those who have been wronged including an addictive chorus and hook. "Black Roses", in its acoustic and haunting atmosphere, is a powerful ballad that audiences react to; sometimes even with their lighters. Their musicality and performance, as well as their production and engineering prowess, surpass what their regional contemporaries are doing.
Performance History
Members of Auralis have played all over the world, in locales such as: Carnegie Hall in New York City; Milan, Italy; Pretoria, South Africa; Marseilles, France; Prague, Czech Republic; Warsaw, Poland; various other European countries and numerous cities around the United States.
Auralis was accepted to perform live for the worldwide troups stationed all over our planet, as part of a USO (United Service Organization) tour, on March 27, 2008. The legendary Bob Hope first hosted these events during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, until the Gulf War in 1991. This is a high honor indeed, which is indicative of the level of talent Auralis brings "en masse".
