Audimute Soundproofing
Audimute is a soundproofing company located in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded by President Mitch Zlotnik, Audimute is based on the principals of [...]-edge technology, environmentally conscious innovation, and quality craftsmanship. Zlotnik, a drummer himself, established Audimute out of the need for a simple, affordable and quality sound solution for musicians. Over the years, Audimute has developed into a company that serves not just musicians but a wide variety of people and applications. Homeowners, business owners and contractors have all turned to Audimute products to control sound in their homes, apartments, restaurants, offices, conference rooms, dance studios and more.
Environmental Focus:
Audimute is known in the soundproofing industry as being the “Green” solution. With many of its products featuring natural and recycled technologies, Audimute has proven that creating a better acoustic environment starts with products that help the greater environment as well.
Peacemaker is one Audimute product manufactured from recycled materials. Peacemakeris a rubber sound barrier made out of recycled tires. It keeps tires out of already overflowing landfills and can be installed in walls, floors and ceilings to block sound.
Eco-C-tex is another eco-friendly technology used in Audimute Acoustic Panels and Absorption Sheets. Eco-C-tex is a blend of natural cotton and recycled paper, developed specifically for Audimute products. Besides making use of paper that otherwise would pollute the environment, eco-C-tex is also manufactured using 10 times less energy than synthetic soundproofing alternatives like fiberglass, making it the GREENEST acoustic absorption technology on the market.
Soundproofing Education:
When it comes to soundproofing products, you’ll notice they are split into two different categories- 'sound absorption' and 'sound blocking'. In order to choose the right method for your situation, it’s important to understand the difference between the two technologies.
SOUND BLOCKING with sound insulation material stops sound from entering or leaving a room. Sound insulation is perfect for blocking loud music, voices, traffic, and many other distractions. Look for sound blocking materials with a high Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating. This number, the higher the better, indicates how effective a certain sound insulation material is at sound blocking. For instance, sound insulation material with a 35 STC would block most normal speech while material with a rating of 60 would render most sounds inaudible.
SOUND ABSORPTION on the other hand improves the sound quality in a room but does not block sound transmission through walls. Sound absorption is accomplished with sound absorption materials such Acoustic Panels Sound Absorption Sheets. These sound absorption products prevent bounce, echoes and unwanted noise and are measured by NRC. NRC is a test of how absorptive a material is at the most common frequencies and ranges from 0 to 1, with 0 being 100% reflective and 1 being 100% absorptive. Sound absorption materials enhance the listening experience for those in the room by preventing sounds from reflecting off walls and mixing with each other. This in turn CREATES a cleaner, less cluttered sound perfect for lecture hall or home stereos.
To prevent sound from entering or leaving a room, a sound blocking product should be used. If the sound within a room is wanted but needs to be tamed, a sound absorption product is the answer. Because sound absorption materials and soundproofing materials have completely different effects on sound, using both will often render the best results.
Exclusive Brands:
- Peacemaker – Peacemaker is a sound barrier made from recycled tires and used in walls, floors and ceilings to block sound. It is sold in both rolls and sheets, in 24” width and 48” width. Peacemaker varies in thickness – the 2mm and 3.2mm densities are used in applications where sound blocking is the goal. Peacemaker can be applied in single or multiple layers, either within new walls, floors or ceilings or on top of existing structures to add mass and increase the overall STC of the structure. (What is STC?) Peacemaker 6.4mm was designed specifically to tackle structural noise and vibration. Used most commonly in floors, Peacemaker 6.4mm is a less dense than the 2mm and 3.2mm Peacemaker but is also much better at reducing impact and vibration.
- Audimute Acoustic Panels – Audimute Acoustic Panels are used to absorb echoes and reverberation by absorbing mid and high frequencies. With an NRC of 1.0, Audimute Acoustic Panels absorb as much as 100% of excess noise in a space. Available in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes, Audimute Acoustic Panels can even be customized with images, photos or logos. Made with eco-C-tex, a blend of natural cotton and renewable cellulose, Audimute Acoustic Panels are an eco-friendly way to reduce sound pressure levels in offices, conference rooms, studios, home theaters and more.
- Audimute Absorption Sheets – Audimute Absorption Sheets are an absorption product used to control echoes and reverberation. With an NRC of .7, Absorption Sheets reduce the sound pressure level in a space by as much as 70 percent. Basic Audimute Absorption Sheets are made with a blend of natural cotton, whereas the new Deluxe Absorption Sheets feature eco-C-tex, a blend of natural cotton and renewable cellulose (or recycled paper). Absorption Sheets are available in 6.5ft and 8ft. long sheets, each 3.75 ft wide and can be hung using Megaclips.
