Atypical Advantage
Atypical Advantage is an Indian inclusive livelihood platform that works to create employment, creative, and entrepreneurial opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwDs). Founded in December 2020 by Vineet Saraiwala, the platform connects individuals with disabilities to corporate employers, art buyers, and performance opportunities, while also Providing disability sensitization and workplace inclusion services to organizations.
The organization gained wider public attention following its appearance on the television show Shark Tank India (Season 2) and has received national recognition for its work in disability empowerment, including awards conferred by the Government of India.
History
Atypical Advantage was founded by Vineet Saraiwala, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Saraiwala has retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye condition that causes progressive vision loss.
The idea for the platform emerged from Saraiwala’s experience working in corporate diversity and inclusion roles, where he identified structural gaps in accessing skilled professionals with disabilities. Atypical Advantage was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period marked by increased livelihood challenges for persons with disabilities in India.

Inclusive hiring
The platform provides recruitment and workplace inclusion services to companies seeking to employ persons with disabilities. This includes candidate sourcing, role mapping, disability sensitization workshops, and post-placement support. It has worked with companies across sectors such as technology, retail, consumer goods, and manufacturing, including Amazon, Tata Group companies, Pepperfry, Flipkart, and Hindustan Unilever.
The organization has also been involved in disability inclusion initiatives within manufacturing environments, addressing accessibility and job design challenges in factory settings.
Arts and creative services
Atypical Advantage operates a marketplace for visual artists and performers with disabilities, enabling them to sell artworks, accept commissions, and participate in corporate and public events. The platform represents artists across visual arts, music, dance, and other performance categories.
Training and skill development
The organization conducts training and upskilling programmes aimed at improving employability for persons with disabilities. These initiatives focus on digital skills, interview preparation, and job readiness, including train-and-hire models developed with corporate partners.
Public recognition
Shark Tank India
Atypical Advantage appeared on Shark Tank India Season 2, where founder Vineet Saraiwala pitched the platform as a scalable business centred on disability inclusion. The company secured an investment deal during the episode, which significantly increased its public visibility.
