Association for Liberal Thinking
The Association for Liberal Thinking is a Turkish political group that aims to encourage the growth and development of liberal democracy but without being directly linked to any one political party.
The group was informally founded on 26 December 1992, gaining official status on 1 April 1994. It views itself as an intellectual group that aims to spark political debates in Turkish society and in doing so seeks to encourage the full development of a democratic political culture. The association publishes reports, books and journals, hosts seminars and runs educational programs. Recent projects have included 'Interreligious Affairs: Search for A Peaceful Coexistence in a Secular and Democratic System', a 2004 project aimed at encouraging diversity which was sponsored by the European Commission.
