Assington Mill
Assington Mill is both a private home and location for a wide range of arts and crafts courses held on and around the property across most weekends of the year. The house, mill and surrounding farm were bought in 2003 and have been restored from relative dilapidation. The mill wheel has been restored and can now be used to generate electricity and the mill pond has been dredged and tidied up and is home to Rainbow Trout. The farm is located in a hidden valley on the outskirts of Assington village
The old mill building is now Mill Cottage, a short term holiday let with one bedroom and self-contained kitchen and bathroom.
A variety of short courses, mainly centered around arts and crafts, are run over one to three days many weekends of the year. Course topics include subjects like stained glass window making, pottery, painting, photography, straw bale buildings, fishing, drawing, beekeeping, animal husbandry, upholstery and a wide variety of other topics.
