Asher Benrubi

Asher Benrubi, known by the on-air name of Smash, was most recently the co-host of Allman and Smash In The Morning, on 97.1 FM Talk, KFTK in St. Louis, MO. Benrubi takes part in many activities in and around the St. Louis area. He does many charitable activities, and is the leader of the Smash Band. For the last 7 years he has been the production voice of the NFL St. Louis Rams and hosted an amazing party with his band for 150,000 fans who came to downtown St. Louis to celebrate the Rams 2000 SUPER Bowl victory.

Benrubi was formerly on the air in the 1970s and 1980s in Indianapolis as Adam Smasher, then went on to great things at DC-101 in Washington, D.C. Following those years he did some time at MTV as a video jock. His on-air Guns N' Roses Headbangers Ball interview went on to become #36 in "MTV's Greatest Moments." In 1988 he started on at KSHE-95 in St. Louis and has become an area icon.

"Smash" recently co-hosted "Allman and Smash in the Morning" a show on KFTK with Jamie Allman. His last day on the air at 97.1 FM Talk, KFTK was April 12, 2007. "A Message from Smash"

In June of 2007, Asher Benrubi returned to his roots as a high profile broadcast entertainer and Rock & Roll DJ. Asher now hosts "The Smash Morning Show," Monday through Friday, 6 to 9AM on 103.3 KLOU-FM.

Asher is the father of actor Abraham Benrubi.
