Asha Jadeja Motwani

Asha Jadeja Motwani is an American public figure and philanthropist based in Silicon Valley, California. She is the founder of the Motwani Jadeja Foundation and a founding stakeholder in Google alongside her late husband Rajeev Motwani.

In 2025 and 2026, she donated approximately $5.1 million to MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting Donald Trump, making her one of its largest individual donors.

Biography

Jadeja Motwani earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Central University of Gujarat. She later emigrated from India to the United States, and completed a master's degree in urban planning at the University of Southern California and a master's degree in civil engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

Career

Jadeja Motwani co-founded Dot Edu Ventures with her husband Rajeev Motwani in 2000, a seed fund for university-linked technology startups. Through Dot Edu Ventures and personal investments, she has backed more than 100 startups, including early-stage investments in Google, PayPal, Pinterest, AppDynamics, and Meraki. In 2020, she pledged a $1 million seed fund for an IIT startups accelerator. She was a speaker at the Milken Institute Global Conference in 2024.

Political activity

Jadeja Motwani was Democrat for 30 years before switching to the Republican Party. In 2016, she donated $33,400 to Hillary Clinton’s joint fundraising committee.

In 2025 and 2026, she donated approximately $5.1 million to MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting Donald Trump. She has advocated for H-1B visa reform, stating that she discussed the issue with both Trump and Vice President JD Vance. In August 2025, she publicly urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contact Trump directly to resolve a tariff dispute between the two countries.

Foundation

Asha Jadeja Motwani founded the Motwani Jadeja Foundation (MJF) in 2012. The foundation is named after her late husband, Rajeev Motwani, who was a professor at Stanford University and had early involvement with Google. The foundation aims to foster ties between the United States and India through support for education, innovation, and business training. In 2020, the foundation organized an India Pavilion at CES 2020 for Indian startups.

MJF also runs the Motwani Women Entrepreneurs Fellowship in partnership with TiE Silicon Valley, supporting women founders from India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Personal life

Asha Jadeja Motwani was married to Rajeev Motwani, a Stanford University computer science professor who was an early adviser to the founders of Google. He died in 2009.
